Dr. Shoba Nair an Associate Professor in of the Department of Pain and Palliative Medicine at St. John’s Medical College Hospital, Bangalore India. St. John’s is a premier medical institution in India. Palliative Care began as a unit of Anesthesia in the year 2000 and was converted into a department in 2008 in the institution. St. John’s was the first to start an undergraduate medical and nursing training program in palliative care in India. Dr. Nair’s focus is on integrating non-malignant diseases with palliative care. Her department regularly caters to HIV / AIDS patients.
