About LIFE Before Death
LIFE Before Death is a documentary project focusing on health professionals who battle the global epidemic of untreated pain. The project’s mission is to refocus the culture of medicine to “care” rather than exclusively on “cure.” Through the eyes of patients, and their families, this project uncovers the hard truths of untreated pain, the inherent humanity and the immense hope of patients with life-limiting illnesses who approach their end-of-life experiences with dignity, love and peace.
LIFE Before Death will include 50 short films themed around pain control and end of life issues, releasing one a week for a year from May 2011. A feature film will be released in late 2011 followed by a one-hour TV documentary. The project is presented by the Lien Foundation, produced by Moonshine Movies and supported by the International Association for the Study of Pain, The Mayday Fund, the Union for International Cancer Control and The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice’s International Programs.
