Shannon Y. Moore, MD, MPH
Assistant Director, International Programs, The Institute for Palliative Medicine at San Diego Hospice, San Diego, California
E-mail: smoore@sdhospice.org
Internet: palliativemed.org, IPCRC.net
Over the years Dr. Moore has served as a volunteer in East and South-Central Africa, liaising with international and regional non-governmental organizations to provide clinical and teaching services. Providing sabbatical relief for mission hospital staff, working with community agencies in health surveys and rehabilitation of HIV orphanages and schools, water, hygiene and sanitation projects as well as broad public health efforts with Doctors without Borders has given her a personal understanding of what it means to work in communities at risk. In addition to deep commitment to teaching and exquisite patient and family care, Shannon has been involved in bringing the language of humanity and spirit into the practice of Palliative Medicine.
